A Righteous Perspective

Isaiah 54:17 says, "No weapon formed against you shall prosper,..."
We typically picture this with the church in a defensive posture. However, weapons are not just used against fortifications and heavily defended, dug in, troops. Weapons are also used against advancing forces.
When we hear, "No weapon formed against you..." our minds react as if someone has just raised a sword or pulled a gun on us. Hands flying up. Defense. We are predisposed to see this in a certain way. Our bias clouds our minds to other possibilities.
This is the confidence that I have. The reason the enemy is trying what seems like new weapons and tactics, is because he knows something is up in the church. We are about to see the greatest victories and triumphs the church has ever experienced. Get ready to subdue kingdoms!
We're challenging the precious people in Rector Arkansas to hear the Spirit say, "The church is not on pause".
Anything formed to stop the victorious advance, the ultimate victory, of the church, will not prosper.
We’re about to plant a flag on the top of a brand new hill. We’re taking new territory, tearing down strongholds, and busting through barriers. We’re taking dominion over the darkness, the kingdom of God is on a forceful advance!
Isaiah 54:17 further tells us, "This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord..."
Listen, our heritage is not one of circling the wagons and hoping we can just hold on to survive. We have a heritage! We have a heritage of advancing no matter what the enemy throws at us.
This is not a boast in ourselves or a cocky attitude. It's tight but it's right.
  • The weapon will not prosper.
  • This is our heritage.
  • "...And their righteousness is from Me, Says the Lord." We're right about this!

Isaiah 54:17 NKJV
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

Action!

Reading the story of Jesus can be almost breathtaking. It is shocking. Like the disciples watching Jesus ascend upon a cloud, we are left staring upward with slack jaws. God among us! It's almost to much to believe. In his introduction to the book of Acts for The Message Bible, Eugene Peterson points out an inherent danger. The possibility that we will be "...impressed - but only impressed." We run the risk of just becoming fans of Jesus. Peterson suggests, "we could easily becom enthusiastic spectators, and then let it go at that -- become admirers of Jesus, genourous with our oohs and ahs..." Mathew, Mark and John left of telling the story after the ascension of Jesus. But, Luke doesn't stop. Luke set out to make sure we didn't just become Jesus fans . Jesus continued to function and fulfil his mission through disciples in the next generation. And he continued in thier children and in thier children's children. In every generation since there have ...

Walking

Simple insight: Children learn to walk because they instinctively know it's there destiny and they never quit trying. They fail miserably and painfully hundreds of times. How many of our goals would be achieved if we understood the power of persistent pursuit of a God given destiny?

Is the Rock Following You?

As long as Israel followed the cloud, the rock followed them! Submission to God's leadership guarantees His provision. The Jewish Haggadah contains an ancient story, believed and taught by the Jews, that the Rock actually followed behind them as they journeyed in the wilderness. When the cloud stopped, and as they prepared to set up camp, the Rock moved through the camp to the outer court of the sanctuary. I remember reading in Alfred Edersheim's, "The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah", how the annual Feast of Tabernacles  included a special ceremony in commemeration of this miraculous provision of water. To the sound of music, a priest carrying a large golden pitcher, led a procession down to the Pool of Siloam. There, he filled the pitcher with water and returned. At the alter, the morning sacrifice was already being offered. In a perfectly timed entrance, through the "water gate" this priest would arrive for the conclusion of the...
